Submission Guidelines
When submitting predictions to Soonerism, follow these guidelines to ensure quality and verifiability:
1. Predictions Must Be Verifiable
Predictions should be specific enough that their outcome can be determined as true, false, or partial. Vague or unfalsifiable predictions (e.g., "something big will happen eventually") are not appropriate for the platform.
✓ Good: "Congress will hold UAP hearings in October 2024"
✗ Bad: "Disclosure is coming soon"
2. Include Source Links
Always provide a direct link to where the prediction was made. This could be a podcast timestamp, YouTube video, social media post, article, or interview transcript. The source must be publicly accessible and verifiable.
- Link to the most direct source possible
- Include timestamps for audio/video sources
- Use archive links for content that might be deleted
- Private conversations or DMs are not acceptable sources
3. Use Accurate Quotes or Paraphrasing
Represent the prediction accurately. If quoting directly, use quotation marks and preserve the original wording. If paraphrasing, ensure you capture the essence of the prediction without distortion or editorializing.
- Direct quotes should be verbatim
- Paraphrasing should be fair and neutral
- Don't remove important context or qualifiers
- Note if the speaker later clarified or modified their prediction
4. Specify Clear Target Dates
Every prediction needs a target date or timeframe when it can be evaluated. If the original prediction didn't specify a date, use reasonable interpretation based on context (e.g., "within weeks" = 1 month, "this year" = end of current year).
5. Choose Appropriate Categories
Tag predictions with relevant categories (Government Disclosure, Sightings, Whistleblowers, etc.) to help with organization and searchability. Multiple categories can be applied when appropriate.
Voting Guidelines
Voting is the core mechanism for verification. Vote responsibly and fairly:
Vote Based on Evidence
Cast your vote based on objective evidence, not personal opinion about the commentator or topic. If the prediction claimed "X will happen by Y date," evaluate whether X actually happened—not whether you wish it had or hadn't.
Provide Sources When Possible
When voting, especially for True or Partial outcomes, provide sources that support your assessment. This helps others verify the result and strengthens the consensus process. News articles, official statements, and documented events are ideal sources.
Be Objective and Fair
Don't let personal feelings about a commentator influence your vote. Grade predictions on their merits alone. A commentator you dislike can still make accurate predictions, and one you admire can be wrong. Apply the same standards to everyone.
Respect Differing Opinions
Some predictions fall into gray areas where reasonable people can disagree. Respect other voters' perspectives, especially on Partial outcomes. Engage in constructive discussion in comments rather than attacking those who voted differently.
No Vote Brigading
Don't organize coordinated voting campaigns to manipulate outcomes. Don't create multiple accounts to vote multiple times. Vote manipulation undermines the entire platform and will result in account termination. Report suspected brigading to moderators.
Comment Guidelines
Stay On Topic
Keep comments relevant to the prediction being discussed. Off-topic tangents distract from productive conversation and clutter the discussion thread.
Be Respectful
Disagree with ideas, not people. Criticize arguments, not individuals. Personal attacks, name-calling, and harassment have no place in our community. You can point out flawed reasoning without being disrespectful.
No Spam or Self-Promotion
Don't use comments to promote your own content, products, or services. Don't post repetitive content or copy-paste the same comment across multiple predictions. Genuine discussion is welcome; spam is not.
Use Constructive Criticism
If you disagree with a submission, vote, or comment, explain your reasoning constructively. "This is wrong" is less helpful than "This appears incorrect because [evidence/reasoning]." Help others learn and improve.
Report Violations, Don't Escalate
If you see content that violates guidelines, use the report function rather than engaging in arguments. Don't feed trolls or respond in kind to harassment. Let moderators handle violations.
Moderation
Our moderation team consists of community-selected volunteers who enforce these guidelines fairly and transparently.
Moderators Enforce Guidelines
Moderators can remove content, issue warnings, and suspend or ban accounts that violate community guidelines. All moderation actions are logged for transparency and accountability.
Appeals Process Available
If you believe a moderation action was taken in error, you can appeal through our contact form. Provide context and explanation for why you believe the action should be reversed. Appeals are reviewed by different moderators than those who took the original action.
Transparency in Actions
Moderators will provide reasons for removal and warnings. Moderation logs are available for review. We believe transparency in moderation builds trust and ensures accountability.
Community-Selected Moderators
Moderators are chosen from high-reputation community members who demonstrate good judgment, fairness, and adherence to guidelines. The community has input in the selection process through nominations and feedback.
Consequences
Guideline violations result in progressive enforcement:
⚠️ Warning (First Offense)
Minor violations or first-time offenses typically result in a warning. The moderator will explain what guideline was violated and how to avoid future issues. Warnings are logged to your account.
⏸️ Temporary Suspension (Repeat Offenses)
Repeated violations or more serious single violations result in temporary account suspension (typically 7-30 days). You won't be able to post, vote, or comment during suspension, but can still browse the site.
🚫 Permanent Ban (Severe Violations)
Severe violations (harassment, doxxing, vote manipulation, spam networks) result in permanent account termination. IP bans may be applied to prevent ban evasion. Permanent bans can be appealed after 6 months.
Appeal Process Outlined
To appeal a moderation action:
- Use the contact form and select "Moderation Issue"
- Provide your username and details of the moderation action
- Explain why you believe the action was in error
- Wait for review (typically within 48 hours)
- A different moderator will review and respond with the decision
